Movies from PowerPoint? Imagine that!

Did you know that movies can be exported from PowerPoint? It takes a little planning, but it can be done.

PowerPoint can compile a series of slides into a movie file with help from the slide transition palette. Of course you can only work with 1 second units of time, but that might be all you need for some movies.

Here’s how you do it:
1. Calculate how many seconds you want each slide to be on the screen.

2. In the Slide Sorter view, right click on each slide to bring up the slide transition palette.

3. Add the seconds to the dialog and choose “Advance slide automatically.”

4. From the file menu choose “Make Movie.”

5. Choose “Movie Options” from the bottom of the dialog box before saving.

6.Choose 640 x 480 (or a custom size) and check “show movie player controls”

7. Then choose “apply these settings to the current presentation.”

8. Select “OK” and save your file.

Your movie will be compiled. You can use this file in any movie editing application to add sound or continue editing.

Note: These instructions are for Apple Macintosh computers.
